On The Backburner

December 25th, 2006.
Quiet morning.
Two is company. Sweet, sweet company.
Gifts.
Devour new books.
Download new music from iTunes.
Smell smelly stuff (Libby).
Tools and fishing stuff (Ben).
French toast, bacon, eggs.
Morning serenely slips by.
Go out.
National Geographic documentary.
Lunch.
Big potluck dinner with nine local friends.
Girlfriends bring dishes.
Guys bring fruit and juice.
Games.
Of course games,
We ask our Indian friends,
“What does Christmas mean to India?”
Question evokes interesting discussion.
UNO.
Laughter.
Teasing.
Bantering.
4.5 hour party.
Phone calls home.
Tired.
Smiles pasted on sleepy faces.
December 25th, 06…all else on the backburner.

If you described your Christmas to me in a few phrases, what would you have to say?
